You can take the StrateGene DNA sample with most conditions and diseases, with a few exceptions:
- If you have had a bone marrow transplant procedure, it is not reliable to do a genetic test because it’s not possible to know who’s DNA you’re testing.
- If you are undergoing medical treatment that reduces your white blood cell count, such as chemotherapy, it is best to wait at least two weeks after your last treatment or until your white blood cell count has returned to normal.
However, in general, disease states do not interfere with your genetic testing results. If you are concerned about collecting sufficient saliva, use our Cheek Swab kit (generally for infants or those incapable of providing inadequate saliva samples).
