The following table lists changes to Seeking Health product labels (i.e. FDA regulation updates or company updates), and are NOT changes to the formulations themselves.
For a list of formulation changes to our products, please see Formulation Changes.
|Product||Label Change||Date (being SOLD with this change)||Why?|
"Plain" is not being called "Seltzer" flavor
|Jan 2020||Dr Lynch felt that Seltzer described the refreshing tart flavor better than "plain".|
|Optimal GI Powder||
This is now a 60 serving container, no longer 30. (Scoop size reduced to 3.4 g and Amount per serving is reduced by 50%)
|Dec 2019||Dr Lynch wants people to start out with a smaller amount (sensitivities).|
|ProBiota Sensitive||Strain numbers are no longer proprietary, shown on supplement facts||Oct 2019||Strains numbers released for transparency and help customers understand which strain they are taking so that they can make informed decisions about their health.|
|Optimal Protein Powder||"Total Carbohydrates" used to state 1g (<1% DV), and now changing to 2g (1% DV)||2020||Repeated label claim testing has shown that labeling the carbohydrates as 2g more accurately represents what is present in the product.|
|Histamine Block 30 and 90||Removed shellfish from “does not contain” list||Fall 2019||This product has never contained shellfish, nor does it now. This product contains shellac, which is derived from a secretion from the lac beetle. Beetles are genetically similar to shellfish as they are both from the phylum Arthropoda. Because of this similarity a false positive comes up when the product is tested for shellfish allergen. Some research suggests that people who are allergic to shellfish could also be sensitive to beetles and other bugs. Industry trends point to not including shellfish in the “does not contain” section of bug-containing products, with some companies going as far as putting a statement on products saying, “Those with shellfish allergies may be sensitive or allergic to X (bug that is present in product.” According to our supplier, twenty years of experience with the product has not yielded a single complaint of shellfish sensitivity or allergy. With this in mind, we will not be including a statement on the product, but to protect Seeking Health in the case of a possible reaction, we will remove shellfish from the “does not contain” section of the labeling.|
|All folate-containing products||Folate is now measured in both mcg and Dietary Folate Units(DFE||Fall 2019||What does "mcg DFE" mean on my label?|
